I Slay Me

You know how on opening night some movies have their first showing at midnight? So all the complete crackheads can see their movie the at the very first available opportunity?

I’ve always thought those people were nuts. Completely nuts. Guess who is going to see New Moon at 12:01 a.m. on November 20? Ahem. And yes, I totally admit that the acting in Twilight was beyond bad. I’m going to ogle at the kid that plays Jacob. Yes, I know he’s a baby. But he’ll be 18 someday and I won’t feel so lecherous while admiring him.

I’m going with a friend and some of her friends after I get off work on that Thursday. We’re going somewhere to eat (Kobe. I like feeling like my eyebrows could be singed off during the preparation of the meal. And drinks that look like volcanoes.) that I’ve want to go for awhile but haven’t and then we’ll go to the show. I’m excited!

I wasn’t so excited about the fact this is on a Thursday night and I’d have to go to work on Friday after being out til 3 a.m. But guess what? Sweety decided that we are going to Massachusetts to visit his mother and we leave out on the 21st. So I won’t even be going to work that day!

This coincidence totally leads me to believe that I was meant to see this movie at midnight.

We’ve never been to see his mother. She visited us shortly after we were married around Christmas and that’s the only time I’ve met her in person. I’m possibly the world’s worst daughter-in-law. I don’t like to talk to her on the phone (I don’t like to talk to hardly ANYONE on the phone. Unless I’ve given you my phone number. Then you’re cool.) because I don’t really know her. (Except for the stories that Sweety has relayed about his childhood. Kind of less than flattering stories.) And I don’t keep up the online site that she has access to to see photos of the boys.

She asked Sweety awhile back why we go see my mom every summer but don’t go see her. I told Sweety he was more than welcome to go see his mom but I wasn’t going if that meant I wouldn’t get to see my mom. When we got married, part of the deal was that he’d take me to see my mom once a year. It’s in the paperwork.

The boys had a baseball game tonight. It was originally scheduled to start at 6:30 but was changed to 7 p.m. because one kid and his mother can’t get here til 7. (The game went into overtime and we didn’t get out of there til almost 10. At least they won!)

It really aggravates the shit out of me. The kid that can’t get here til 7? His mom works in the concession stand. When she’s not working there, she is busy smoking her lungs out in the bleachers. Usually right in front of the “no smoking” sign.

I told Sweety that I was going to call 911 the next time some flaming twatwad lit a cigarette up but he advised against it. He says it’s not a true emergency and I would be arrested for abusing the system.

I’m thinking of using cash to buy one of those disposable cell phones and using it to make the call anyway.

What do you call kids born in whorehouses?

  1. I think that it is good that you are going to go see Sweety’s mom. That way you can get to know her so you’ll be more comfortable talking on the telephone.

They really shouldn’t make accommodations for parent’s peoples schedules with youth sports because it can get out of hand. It’s usually up to the coaches and some are more flexible than others. I wish we could get our daughter’s games rescheduled whenever we had something else that we needed to do rather than rushing through everything and still being in a hurry.

Honestly? I don’t think I’ll ever feel comfortable talking on the phone with her. I figure since I don’t make him talk to my Mom that this is okay. But maybe I will do a better job of updating the kids’ photos.

It completely chapped my butt when we found out why all the 6:30 games were rescheduled. I feel like we’re up too late on school nights with the games being at 6:30!

Oh, well. The season will be over in a few weeks. Then we’ll move on to Spring Ball where the parents are even more crazy while cheering on their kids.

  2. I’m going to have to go look up NEW MOON! I haven’t a clue as to what that is and I’m not sure why! But I’m happy for you that you are going to the Midnight show! Sounds like you and the gals will have a good head start on the frivolity…lol!
I hope your trip to see Sweety’s mom will be a good one, my dear. MIL’s cerrtainly can be stressful, can’t they?
So I guess you decided to go to the games again…Too bad that woman smokes like a chimney…OY!

New Moon is the second in the Twilight series of vampire books. I wasn’t going to bother reading them but my niece did and wanted me to so we could talk about them. I’ll do anything that kids asks :)

I’ve been really lucky with MILs. I’m still friends with my exhusband’s mom and I’m glad that Sweety’s isn’t a meddler. I hear some real horror stories about MILs from friends. But, I guess I get my payback in the coaew department.

Yeah, I went to that game since Sweety was going to be there. The coaew wasn’t present since it wasn’t her day with the boys and she didn’t “have” to be there to get them home.

LOL I am not surprised that you’re going. Hey! Since I’m an hour ahead of you – do you want me to text you during the movie and ruin it for you?

I really don’t think, since I’ve read the book, that you could ruin the movie for me. ;)

  4. Brothel sprouts. That’s damn funny.

And I agree – they shouldn’t have moved the game for one kid.

I am waiting for book four to come out in paperback so that I can read the whole series. I don’t like hardback books. And I will probably purchase the movie, not see it in theaters. But that’s how I roll.

    peace…

I sat down and read the last book all in one session. I started it before going to bed and didn’t stop til I was done at around 3 a.m. And then, I was glad the obsession was over.

  5. Stephenie Meyer said that she’s requested a very special trailer to play before New Moon starts.

  6. Hey Chickie,

What’’s up? I use to hate to go to my MIL because she was so perfect and of course she made me feel like an idiot. Good luck with Sweety’s MIL.

I am in agreement about the baseball game. Seriously? delaying the game? He must be special, or else really rich. LOL

I hope that your doctor’s appointment goes well. You look so healthy.

I bet you will have so much fun at the movie. I never got into that book, but I sure do like the other series about vampires, True Blood.

ENjoy your trip to Mass. I look forward to hearing all about it.
    Big hugs,
    Pam

I think the visit will go well. We’ll be really close to Boston and Sweety said we’ll take a day and check it out.

The baseball kid? I think one of his parents is on the Little League committee. That probably helps.

I want to read the True Blood books but haven’t gotten around to it yet. I have seen a few of the shows and like them though!

I’ll do anything twice. Just to make sure that I did or did not like it.

Since I’m on the phone for 40 hours a week, it just is not my favorite thing. Sometimes I won’t even answer for my Mama. She understands and leaves me nice messages anyway.

  9. I did not like Twilight one bit- neither the book nor the movie.

However, that does not mean I do go all Mrs. Robinson at the idea of Jacob without a shirt on.

I’ve also been known to watch The Covenant with the sound off…

It was painful for me to watch the movie. The acting made me cringe. The books weren’t my kind of books (I want vampire porn, thank you very much!) but they did give me hours of conversational fodder with my niece.

Hee, hee – I have been known to turn the sound off to watch shows too! Sometimes, you just need something to look at.

  10. Brothel Sprouts. HA!

Heh. You know my feelings on mothers in law and mothers for that matter. Hee hee. Is she a drinker? If so, she might not find it offensive if you drink to make your visit more enjoyable. LOL

Slowly sliding into your cougarhood. Went to see the New 3D Christmas Carol movie, it was great, but I didn’t go at midnight the first night.
