Aunt Anna…what’s pub – puberry – pubity –
Puberty?
Yeah. What’s puberty?
It’s when your body starts changing in different ways to become an adult.
Ew! I don’t want to do that! I don’t want to get wrinkles!
Hahahahahaha! No, kid. The wrinkles come much later. You get those just for getting old. You get boobs and your period with puberty.
Period? I don’t want a period!
Sorry. It’ll come with the territory.
Hey! I’m going to get a pet turtle and teach it The Hokey-Pokey!
And with that the subject was changed and she started showing me how turtles do The Hokey-Pokey.
She was here last week with her mom and dad and we all had a large time. They left yesterday morning and I miss them already. They got home to Oklahoma just in time for a snowstorm today! Sylvie said she couldn’t believe that she was swimming outside here just a week ago.
I got constant little hugs, hand holds and kisses. We took turns kicking each others ass playing cards. It was awesome.

my daughter (when told about periods) just said “oh no, mom. I’m just not gonna do that.” Ha ha ha… Honey, you don’t have a choice.

Heh, when my sister first told her about it awhile back, Sylvie told her she wasn’t going to do it either and then she slid out of the room to go ride her bike.

Wow. As you know, my step daughter (who was also born in 1999) just STARTED puberty! Her period came this week. Wow.

Oh dang, I didn’t realize they were the same age! I remember not worrying about this stuff til I was in junior high.
I think the hormones in all the chicken nuggets that kids eat now makes ‘em grow faster.

Aren’t they the best? When I was in Kentucky, I got cuddles from my niece, and she’d randomly come up to me, snuggle into me for a second and whisper “I love you Rissa” in my ear before running off again.

Oh, yeah….that is good stuff. Sometimes she’d just walk up to me to tell me that she loved me or wrap her arm around me while we were walking. She started to cry when they were leaving and then I just lost it. I miss that little rat.

Sometimes, boys really are easier. We never have conversations like that with our sons or nephews.

Boys do seem easier in this respect. Sweety’s had a couple of talks with them but there isn’t anything that they seem to dread about getting older!

GREAT Conversation with Slyvie…I love how you LOVE Her! So happy you had a wonderful visit, my dear….
And I love her saying she didn’t want ‘a period’…..Well, if she waits long enough, it WILL go away, but those wrinkles do come along about that same time–or at least, the beginning of them…..lol!

Oh! I’ll have to remember to tell her that the period goes when the wrinkles start! She’ll love that. Hee hee.
